We’re were thrilled that our fourth appearance at the Chelsea Flower Show brought us our fourth gold medal! For 2024, we decided to embrace a bold new vision - rest assured, hostas remained the star of our display, with a twist that made this year’s exhibit truly unforgettable.
Our centrepiece was an enormous vintage copper cheese vat, planted with a stately 'Krossa Regal' surrounded by over 300 'Blue Mouse Ears.' The rich patina of the copper contrasted beautifully with the cool, blue-green tones of these hostas, creating a dramatic effect that captivated visitors. Framing this central piece were an array of hostas, from exciting new cultivars like 'First Blush,' 'Tom, Dick, and Harry,' and 'The Sweetest Thing,' to beloved classics like 'Gold Standard,' 'Blue Angel,' and 'Francee.'
This year’s display took on a more contemporary feel with a gravel path bordered by stone edging, giving the space a modern yet earthy touch. Constructing this setting presented new challenges, but we believe the finished look was well worth the effort. Leading up to the copper vat, a cobbled stone path which provided the perfect spot for photos - though its unevenness added a bit of fun, as everyone carefully navigated its quirky charm!
The Chelsea Flower Show is a team effort in every sense. This year, we were especially grateful for the support from friends and family who helped bring our vision to life. A special shout out goes to our good friend, Mike the Gardener, who wasn’t afraid to tackle the messier jobs, like sorting bags of leaves and hunting for slugs and snails. Thank you, Mike!
Press day brought its usual excitement, with visits to our stand by Jason Manford, Ruth Gemmell, Mary Berry, and Carol Klein, who even filmed with us for the BBC. Meeting familiar faces from television and sharing the beauty of our display with them was a true highlight.
Winning our fourth consecutive gold medal is a deeply rewarding acknowledgment of our team’s dedication and hard work. Hearing feedback from our loyal customers, who made a point to visit our exhibit, was heart warming and reminds us why we love what we do. We hope our 2024 display inspired as much joy in others as it did in us.
Here’s to another year of hostas, creativity, and community at the Chelsea Flower Show! See you again for 2025!
